In The Field

Bleed the Ethos

In the last decade, hunters have driven themselves into the unknown, chasing the wild places where most won’t tread. No mountain stands too tall, no basin too distant, and no storm too fierce for the modern-day backcountry hunter. We live in an era where information is readily available to everyone. Now grit, determination, and hunger are what set people apart. More miles and less sleep—the spirit of the relentless hunter is alive and undeniable. As a result, the expectations for gear have transformed. The men and women pushing over the next ridge and into the next basin deserve tools as formidable as they are. Those who hunt this way don’t just want better—they demand it. And they should.

That is why we created Gray Light. You—the ones who don’t know how to quit—deserve gear that meets or surpasses your greatest asks. Gear that outlasts the storms and the miles. Gear that survives the punishment you dish out. We don’t believe in compromise. Our answer is Duralite: the perfect fusion of durability and minimal weight, built for those who refuse to choose between strength and speed. This is the standard. This is what you deserve.

Here at Gray Light we work for you, the hunter. Every decision, every stitch, every ounce of sweat poured into our products is made with you at the forefront of our mind. Without you, there is no Gray Light. We are hunters serving hunters—no suits, no boardrooms, no shortcuts. We don’t answer to Wall Street. We answer to the guy pushing over the next ridge, the woman fresh on the blood trail, the tribe that refuses to compromise. Only the best, for those who demand it. Every piece of gear is designed in the thick of the backcountry, tested by those who call these places home. If we wouldn’t trust it on our hunt, you’ll never see it in our line.

We stand behind our gear. Ours is a brand built by those who have earned their scars. At the helm stands our leader, Marlon Holden. Over the last two decades, Marlon has claimed around 80 mule deer and more than 100 big game animals with his bow, stalking unforgiving ground from the high country of Colorado to the consequential and rugged islands of Mexico. He’s lived the grind, and put gear through trials most will never face. That’s why we stand here now: not to follow, but to ignite the fire missing in this industry. As innovation slows, we accelerate. When others rest, we sharpen our steel. Gray Light Hunter was born from this perfect storm. A brand forged for those who demand more.

Whether we’re behind the desk or fully immersed in the backcountry, the Gray Light ethos runs in our veins. We’re the first to glass that next basin, the last to leave the mountain, and the ones who never quit when the weather turns or the way gets steep. We answer adversity with innovation and reliability—focusing on the solution, not the problem at hand. Every step forward is made with respect for those who came before us, and every piece of gear is constructed for the next generation that demands it. For the men and women who grind harder, hunt deeper, and refuse to break, we know the only way onward is through integrity, honor, and grit—over, under, or straight through any obstacle. We don’t hide behind marketing. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our Gray Light family—transparent, accountable, and unbreakable.

The mountains show no mercy, so why should you?
